Bridges and Ducks - Jose's Book

Mixed media - Pencil ,Pen and collage from an old digitalized book.
Dear friends
I live in São Paulo, the largest south American city, but I'm from Porto Alegre, the (little) capital city of Rio Grande do Sul state.
Every year with spring beginning we can see the ducks arriving from the north and passing over Guaiba lake going to "Lagoa dos Patos" - something like "Ducks Lagoon" - an other hundred of small lakes in the south of Rio Grande do Sul, Uruguay and Argentina.
One week after Marty show his "ducks entry" here in the blog I visit Porto Alegre for a job and by coincidence I saw the ducks coming and took a photo. (see the line on the picture beside)
That's why I decide to draw my two beloved cities using two important bridges to represent her.
To represent São Paulo I draw the modern Octávio Frias de Oliveira Bridge - aka "Ponte Estaiada"  (1km from home)
To represent Porto Alegre I draw the old Guaiba's bridge, a traditional Porto Alegre post card.
To Moly X, ducks and bridges natural barriers or geopolitcal borders don't represent a problem :-)
Sorry for the late and the simple work, I use only what I have available in my office desk.
Thank you all for your stunned art.

My Heroes

Excused the delay:) here my contribution to the moly of Joyce.

Heeey!

okay blame me! I still got Ramires`s book on my hand*wave white flag*, and I also have another book from moly_x portrait8, it`s been like monthes passed I still add nothing to both book..
and yes I do have many school works but technically I`m not that busy since I didn`t take many courses this semester, I spent most of times sitting in my apartment and thinking, wondering what to do next, I`m thinking to transfering school again and even to other department, to English or probably Spanish department I don`t know, and it`s a bit confusing since I don`t wanna give up my art, and you know sometimes even you have time to draw you just don`t have the feeling to draw, annnnywaaaay
I`m still in the game so don`t kick me out just because I haven`t been updated for awhile.

please feel free to nudge me anytime

xoxo

USA Soda Bottle Caps

This book is so spectacular!! As I have said, it is going to be in an exhibit in Minneapolis during December. There were two pages remaining to fill in the book, so I nailed a bottle cap collection into it. As terrific as this book is, I thought it could use a little something to make it flow. Everyone played so nicely side by side that the images didn't flow into one another. I nailed these bottle caps throughout the books. We'll see how cool it looks when all 9.5 feet of it is up in the exhibit. Thank you all so much.

I plan to use it to promote moly_x and other projects. I will keep you posted.

Jose's book  arrived in my house two days ago.
Each design is wonderful, you all are great artists, it is difficult to draw something after seeing how these artworks ... Jose your  theme's choice was great.
Despite my difficulty to paint or draw these days, still do not know if drawing Sao Paulo or Porto Alegre two weeks ago I was there and saw the ducks coming from the northern hemisphere going to the large lake called "Lagoa dos Patos "- I have pictures :-) . Marty, thanks for the postcard, your brother's work is fantastic, you have a very talented family :-))

Joyce's book

Attempting to approach the series art style I don't use my acrylics and the results are not so spontaneous (I Use water soluble pencil and Indian Ink pen ) is unusual to me work with black as structure and separated colors.
Joyce, sorry for my late, the construction of my new studio gets delayed, and I have my material in a bunch of boxes in my living room... I'm more crazy than usually.
I hope you enjoy it.

Next round: Country books.

I hope that you are all interested in the country theme for our next round of  books. I am thrilled by how my "USA" book has turned out. The theme seem may seem childish, like an elementary school social studies project, but I think it was a huge success. My book is filled with comments about the sweet and the bitter of my country. I found these pictures on Flickr today, by Ward Zwart.  In the color of each country's flag. Heh.

Supaheros!

My entry to Marty`s USA moly

What I know about USA are mostly from television and hollywood movies since I was little.

I was born in the end 80's, my parents were very busy teaching druing that time, they rarely took me out so I was mostly setting at home watching cartoons(and drawing..), like Disney and Hanna-Barbera, also I was reading comics like Batman and Spiderman(espcially Batman), when I was getting a little bit older like six or seven, ER and The X-files(jeez I miss their huuge cellphone) were just on the televsion, these two are the first American show I watched, then I started getting to know what`s USA like(I know it`s not accurated but... hey I was just a kid), before that I thought USA is a place like you see in cartoons.
The very first movie I saw was Batman Returns(1992) also Indiana Jones, and I`m gonna say the Catwoman was pretty freaky me out at that time.

well anyway I hope you like it Marty, I rarely really draw something colorful so hope you won`t mind if the pages are too colorful.....

by the way I`ve been USA only once for visiting my cousin in NYC, I was really amazed by the urban art there, which is also my inspiration from.

Marty`s USA book in progress

Admit, I took a little break after I finished my last entry for moly_x_20 so I was working on the pages very slooow..., I`ll add more characters in the drawing.

here`s the USA book looks so far, it looks still too colorful in progress but in the end I`ll make the whole entry looks redish and bluish, trust me, Marty.

The good old days

my entry for Martys book....two non-pc subjects, smoking and cowboys. Cowboy films from my youth where men were men, killed red indians ( native americans) and  smoked . Everyone in films smoked. The famous Marlboro man died from lung cancer I believe :-(
a bit of a quiet entry, but I hope you like it Marty

USA has arrived!

Marty's book has arrived, wow it looks amazing..............this is going to be fun :-)

Ill Bill

Finished the entry on Marty's moly. Will send to Lynne asap.

I've never been in USA, and I dont know much about from direct experience, so I thought I would draw something about music, I like rap and of course USA is still unbeaten (spelling) when it comes to that style, though we have some really good dudes here in Spain (few)
So here is what comes around rap, money, violence, hate, but also lyrical skills and mastery of the rythm and mesure, but overall competition, and a lot of acting and creating ficticious characters, and Ill Bill is a good representation of that

So hope you like it Marty ;)

Lynne's Book - The Band

How Marty said that is a great book and subject, and I love wolves too, in fact I breed Siberian Huskys since 1994, today I have only one dog named Nanook the great son of my first husky, a female named Nasha. Huskys are "almost wolves", newed as the best a sled dog, the Siberian Husky has been described as a behavioral representative of the domestic dog's forebearer, the wolf, exhibiting a wide range of its ancestors' behavior. They are known to howl rather than bark. Hyperactivity displaying as an overactive hunting drive. Recent DNA analysis confirms that this is one of the oldest breeds of dog as can be seen with the Alaskan Malamute. Well I use Nanook as my model to join "the band" of 6 wolves representing our great group :-)) Lynne I hope you like, and thanks for share your fantastic art.

My City

Here`s my entry to Jose`s moly, I got a weird thought to draw a city form other planet at first but I thought I`d better to let you know where I lived first, so maybe I save this goofy idea to the next round, haha
I live in Taipei city, capital city of Taiwan, a place that full of information, traffic and people, I love city life, though you can`t get any peace here but those things and people keep you moving.

Drawing perspective isn`t what I`m good at, I tried my best and I was quite enjoy the line drawing!!

btw my scanner sucks so the whole book looks kida dark, please excuse this old baby...

Chimarrão (or Mate) - Acrilyc paint

Actually I live in São Paulo, but I'm from Rio Grande do Sul (extreme south of Brasil). Well In my state we drink a traditional tea from Guarany Indians andThose who share the mate join in a kind of bond of total acceptanceand friendship. Generally the server will start a new infusion andthen take the first drink. This is considered an act of kindness bythe other people in the circle, because usually the first serving isconsidered the worst. In my book I want to offer a symbolic Chimarrão to my dear friends of 54 group.Read more about chimarrão here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimarr%C3%A3o
Sorry for my late and thanks for your patience

Oh here`s my circus

Hey folks! this is my entry to Cristiano`s moly, CIRCUS theme!
I was going to draw something in realism style as always but there`s another idea came to my mind, which made me want to do something different, I guess one of the reason is that I saw Jose`s and his firend`s drawings, I like their "graphic style". if you guys know what I`m saying.. :p

anyway I really hope you`ll like it Cristiano!
:)

I`m going to send this book to Marty tomorrow.
oh wait, you folks might ask: how about Jose`s city moly?! where is it?
well.., the fact is I haven`t started it yet(don`t hit me Jose!!!), it`s still laying
on my desk waiting for me to start my entryXD.

I`m suffering for Blue Monday, the best way to cure is keeping drawing..

Lynne's book.

Getting back into the swing of things. What a great book to start with. Easy subject. So rich. A lot of people are drawn to wolves and think about them often. The wolf must be the most attractive spirit-guide-type animal. I hardly ever think of wolves, though they are beloved here in Minnesota, USA. Their numbers had dwindled here and are now mostly restored. Northern Minnesota borders Canada, and is covered by forest and lakes. I guess I think more about ducks, raccoons, and elephants. When I do consider wolves, I think the most interesting thing about them is their pack instincts.

I wasn't sure what to draw at first. Eventually, I drew one of my greyhounds laying upside down, legs in the air. I thickened the body a bit, added fur and a wolf's head, but it needed a story. I went with the wolfboy, to follow Joyce's great wolfman.

Both animals dreaming.

Marty's Book - Stars and Stripes

Acrylic paint
I have a bunch of good references from USA culture, I love the music (blues and jazz - I play harmonica as hobby :-)
I love the art of Hopper, Pollock and Rockwell Illustrations... I love the sports (I was a Skateboarder)... I love the people and my north american friends...
But what talk about "war Industries" or arguments like "they have weapon of mass destruction" (read oil)...
I grew up in brazilian military dictatorship at 60's (the "lead years ") supported by Jonhson's administration with military and Inteligence personnel operating in Brasil. The same happens in Argentina, Chile, Paraguai...
Well I hope Barak be a different president with a different International politics. I can't express my Ideas and feelings in English so well :-P I hope my art can do that
Marty, thanks for the opportunity to work in your fantastic book.
I hope You understand me.
I use 3 Blues (Prussian, Ultramarine and Cerulean) and 3 Reds (Karmine, oxide or English Red and Naphtol medium) without mixing blues and reds.
